Here's a recap of my 3 days 2 nights vacation to Sibu with all my buddies.
Day 1
We all packed our luggages, stuffed them up with necessity like clothes and also essential materials required for our EAK competition. Not forgetting to tick another thing on our must-bring-list is tit-bits! Yeah! You just hit the bullseye of mine! Of course, what would you expect us to do other than crapping and sleeping all the way by bus from the cat city to Sibu right? Eating tit-bits and snacking around with junk food! XD. Actually, I finished packing my stuff few days before we headed for Sibu. Final checking my things around 6 in the early misty morning. XD. Then, I realised that I was short of some important things and gone mad searching for them like a wild insane human being. Haha.
Grab a quick bite for my breakfast and then dad drove me to the bus terminal next to Boulevard Shopping Mall. When I arrived, I saw Shau Jiunn also arrived simultaneously with me. Miss Chai, Miss Ting, Tan Yee, Esther, Lawrence and Karen were already there sitting on the concrete bench, waiting. Oops! However, I was not the last to arrive, so I managed to savage myself from receiving nuclear bombs from Miss Chai. Haha. The Kuching Participant Coordinator gave us RM 25.00 as our expenses on food, to and fro. Ok! At least we still got some money, not bad lah... XD.
Last to arrive, Miss Eleen Wee, accompanied by her daddy. Miss Chai must be in her pleasure mood as no missles were dropped onto our head that morning. Thank Goodness. By 7.50 am, we loaded our luggage into the bus and dragged ourselves into the bus. The bus was quite an empty one, so there are ample space for us. And for your information, Highians won the majority seats *sound like in an election* XD.
The bus was on time and precisely left the bus terminal at 8 am sharp! And so my first experience to travel inland in Sarawak has just crossed the starting line! XD. How excited I was. The bus passed by Boulevard Shopping Mall. Esther and I made silly actions. We were the pioneer to make our pals them to burst into laughters. We said "Hi everyone! On your left it's Boulevard Shopping Mall!"
Earned laughter from Miss Chai and Miss Ting. I could still pictured the scene when Shau Jiunn replied me that "Leon, I think next time you could further your study in Tourism.." Hehe. I answered back, "Eh Shau Jiunn, ever thought of that too!". The journey continued on and all passengers were in the gay and anxious mood. Happy because we could take a break while our dear-o classmates and schoolmates were busy listening to irksome 35-minutes school bells, frustrating and spirit-withdrawing teachings and blah blah blah. Lucky for us 8, aint we? Haha.
About 10 am when we finally see no more Kuching city's beautiful outlook, all I know was we are now crossing mountains and hills and on the right track to Sibu! Haha. First thing to do after crapping, the opening ceremony of keropoks! Tata! I really scattered my mind who was the pioneer to open the snacks. Anyway, that was not the main idea. OK? XD. And we all started snacking around with nice tit-bits like sweets, gummy bears *yea! I purchase this at the Cold Storage* and lots more goodies.
On our journey, we passed by many natural spots such as rivers and forests. Sometime somewhere, our bus also did driven past a huge savannah and all I could see at my both sides were a piece of green green world. The awesome heritage was indeed a eye-soother. At least they do not emit rays which will damage your eyes like the laptop screen I am facing now. Haha.
Sooner, we reached Sarikei. The bus driver stopped there to let us pay a 20 cent visit to the public washroom. And at there we also grabbed the recess time of the bus driver to stroll along the market. Tan Yee, Karen and Eleen wanted to look after our laptops and belongings so they stayed inside the bus. The rest of us were set roaming in the market. Lawrence, Teck Ceng, Esther and I decided to stroll along at the food section.
Suddenly, my phone vibrated. Took it out from my pocket and realised that Tan Yee sent me a short message. Open that received an order from him. XD. He asked me to abet him to purchase curry puffs. I also did not know what had strucked TY's mind to buy that. Haha. Anyway, I bought 4 for just RM 1.00! What the choc! It's damn cheap man compared to the price back in the Sarawak's capital. Serious! I am very serious about that. XD. Esther and Law then made up their mind to buy the ubi goreng *hope I got this stupid Malay's grammar correct.. XD*. Esther was an excellent bargainer, she requested for complimentary keladi goreng from the stall owner.
I complimented Est on her excellent skills and she is surely going to make herself a good, economical, responsible and loving housewife and mother. Est went over the moon and continued her hallucination when we leaved her behind sneakily. XD. Est was like this, easily taken and drifted away by some sweet words. XD.
We continued our both smooth and rough journey as we traversed all the way to Sibu. Made a stop during lunch hour at a stop. The location was somewhere between Sarikei and Sibu *haha. if I was not mistaken* where we took our lunch. Oh my goodness! There were ample of Malay food but nil for Chinese cuisine. Choc! Anyway, it's fair for our Malay friends mah... Duh.. XD. TY and I ordered economic fast food. I chose the curry chicken, some vege and half part of a salted egg and it compelled me to withdraw RM 4 from my account *as in wallet*... BOOHOO!!!
Tell you what, RM 4 was reasonable but when you took a grab of the food, oh my choc! you will feel like rushing to the washroom to vomit out all of them. Guess what? They cooked the chicken curry by adding sugar into it and mind I remind you, there were lots of sugar added. OMG! The sweet taste totally just covered up the genuine authentic spicy taste. Haih! Then I flashed back and finally knew why Madam Sutinah was caught in astonishment when she learnt that my family seldom or what should I say, never buy sugar. Haha. Reason - Malay loves cooking cuisine by adding sugar into them but sorry lah.. not in our Chinese culture. That's why we are healthier. XD. *excuse me for being vain*. XD.
The rest of my buddies, except Karen the vegetarian, ordered Maggi Mee! Haha. A bowl of Maggi with and egg in it costed them RM 2.50! TY and I was thinking how expensive it was and if I were them, I would rather be patient and come back to Kuching to make your own D.I.Y. Maggi where you can add on lots of goodies in it. Yummy! Miss my own cooking which I had not done it for a long time already. XD.
So we continued our journey to Sibu. On our way, many of us felt asleep but I was still burying myself under tonnes of books! What a bookaholic I am! Haha. Decided not to use the work bookworm as it sounded so nerdy. XD. I continued cracking the THE BIG FOUR case with Hercule Poirot and Captain Hastings in the Agatha Christie's novel which I had brought along. TY decided to sleep too as he finished gobbling a thick yet fascinating Chinese novel that morning! What the heck! XD.
Later, I cant stand the bumpy feeling of the bus and so i went sleeping too until we reached Sibu! Yes! It was 3 in the afternoon when we finally reached the grand door of our desination - Paramount Hotel! Judging by the elegant front door, I rated that as a 3-star hotel and I hit the bullseye! Haha. Upon arrival, Miss Chai and Miss Ting did the registration. When Miss Ting related to me that we guys, me, Tan Yee, Shau Jiunn, Law and Teck Cheng were required to stay in the same room with another 4 foreigners again, that really captivated our attention and threw us into astonishment.
The receptionist, at least, shined some hope on us. She told us that it was a family suite. Phew. She added that it has 2 rooms. Lucky me! However, when we reached our room, the nightmare just started. Law was the first off with jerking and yelling. Law started lodging complained how small the family suite was, indeed, the so-called 2 rooms are actually just being seperated by a 50 cm pathway with a stupid wooden door. I expected at least duo for washroom but unfortunately luck was not beside us. We got only 1! What the Fuck!
Law was so irritated. I could still remembered Law and I were so fussy complaining here and there. We decided to choose the room with 2 single bed and an extra mattress which they called it as "extra bed". Haha. Later, Est, Eleen and Karen visited our room. Theirs were even a more horrible nightmare lah. 10 young ladys crowding in 1 family suite, even worse than we guys. Ended up complaining all the way from the 5th floor's lift down to the lobby when we saw our teachers.
Miss Ting sympathised us and she decided to go back to her house to sleep so that the trio (girls) can sleep with Miss Chai. Well, at least lah. For the five of us, we guys think it should be ok lah and our major headache was only the washroom. Miss Chai permited us to use the girls' washroom if necessary. Phew.
So, after finish unpacking, we all started exploring Sibu. Not much in exploring but dashing to Shan Yang Plaza, which was indeed the only shopping complex in Sibu. At least there are KFC, McD and Pizza Hut and also Giant, Parkson in it. We went from shop to shop, hunting down for souvenirs from our friends. We did not manage to pick one, even randomly, most probably we were all tied up by bundles of nerves of the coming competition. Alas, around 6 pm when we decided to walk back to our hotel but it rained cats and dogs.
The heavy downpour really compelled us to stop running in rain back to the hotel. Miss Chai was indeed fast enough to hire two taxis. We quickly went into the taxis and headed back to the hotel. Haha. However, that short journey costed us RM 2 per pax. What the Fuck! And frankly, the taxi driver was in an exploding mood when some of us came in late and he needed to wait for us! Shit. We are the consumers, ok? Consumers' rights, where were them? Duh!
Upon arrival, Shau Jiunn was the first to occupy the washroom to take a bath. Followed by us. Forgotten the sequence. Paiseh. Then, we hurried down for dinner at the Happy Valley Lounge. Dined in there as the cafe did not have ample space for all participants from Kuching & Samarahan. The food was just nice, not fabulous lah... Karen had to starve as she cannot eat anything except rice as she was a vegetarian. Hence, our only choice was to buy plain bread for her. XD.
At night, the afternoon shower did not blow off our spirit to roam around in Shan Yang again. On our way, Esther was so jealous when Joshua smsed her and asked her about Miss Ting! Haha. Esther was jealous when her ideal guy questioned her about another lady! XD. Miss Ting was afraid of Est's jealousy!!! XD.
I bought some essentials like drinking water and dairies such as milk. TY accidentally bought a bottle of conditioner instead of shampoo. Haha. Very funny. And then both of us went to the pharmacy to buy condom! Haha. For gay sex? Nah! Don't be too horny or imaginative lah. We bought it for Kelly. Haha. Since Kelly was a sex-maniac and a sex fanatic, we guess that was the best souvenirs for him lah. XD.
Later, we hurried back to Paramount as Miss Chai was waiting for us for our last round of rehearsal. So as Law them. Finally we got to meet Miss Ting's boy friend personally. Haha. Nothing much. After rehearsal, we went back to the room, tidied up the room then the night life for the five of us had just started. Law urged us to play deck cards and we played it until 11.45 pm! Haha. For pity sack, TY did not know how to play the BIG SPADE 2, or more popularly known as 二大. Well, no choice. He had to sit there and watched us playing. When we played BlackJack, TY was indeed good in it. XD.
11.45 - our nagging Daddy - Law instructed us to go to bed and the lights went off. Drooling and snooring, here the five of us go! XD
Day 2
Mr. Natural Alarm Clock - Jiunn woke us all up. In fact, we planned to stretch our body around half past 5 but he was ahead of schedule by half and hour. Haih. Well, at least a good thing came out, we did not need to hurry when we bath and can be ahead of our other roommates. Keke!! =)
After brushes and washes, went down to the same venue where we dined last night to had our breakfast. The meals - like that lorh. My stomach was sending out signals that it needed to eliminate some waste. However, due to time restriction, what I could do was grabbed a Panadol to kill off the pain! Aww. How terrible it was, ain't it? XD.
The bus set off for SMK Sungai Merah Sibu. We reached there and was received solemnly. Prefects and teachers were waiting for us at the front gate. Miss Ting was earlier than us, about an hour earlier. Miss Ting helped us to register and then off we went to our classrooms for competiton. Our EAK was so unfortunate, the programme book stated that it began in 8.30 am but the organising board procastinated their job and delayed it until 10 am! What the Fuck! XD
Law's team finish the Media Maklumat earlier and managed to go to our classroom to see our performance and presentation. Karen complimented me on my presentation, so as my teachers. Geesh! I felt like withdrawing myself to a corner, feeling so sheepish. Haha. The presentation was fine but the Chinese judge was a total pain in the neck. He fired us some annoying freaking difficult questions! Haih! This is life - accept the fact bah! XD
In the afternoon, we were so on cloud nine when the competiton ended. The bus drove us all back to Paramount. After shower, we planned to visit Shan Yang but the heavy downpour faded our shopping mood. Thus, we all stayed inside Miss Chai's room watching Xing Kong. A nice 2 hour movie by Chao Wei, Bernice Liu and Zhen Yi Jian. Haha. Esther and Law had some confusing and horny-feeling scene. I took some snap shots and will post them up real soon! XD.
TY went napping when he found the movie was coming to an end. Hehe. So the whole afternoon we spent it watching the small metallic box screen. Some slept and waiting for night to fall and the weather to turn fine.
During night time, we all baddies, skipped dinner and went to the nearby famous night market. On our way, Law and I became Est's lecturers. Law and I gave Est tips on how to win Josh's heart and attention and some pretty smart dating tips. Haha. I didnt know that Law was so funny cause in school he was serious in his AJK uniform. XD. Jiunn became our experimental mice. He offered himself to us. Haha. He wasnt compelled so blames were vindicated from both me and Law. XD. Wow! Indeed, in the night market or also well known as pasar malam had really cheap goods to offer! For heaven sacks! We ordered tonnes of the famous kompia, both salty and sweet from a shop. XD. The tauke must have made a huge fortune from that transaction. Tsk Tsk. XD
I left them earlier as my relatives in Sibu was paying me a visit. Met my late grandmother's sister-in-law. She treated me a plate of chicken rice and in return, I paid for the drinks. XD. And then I accompanied her to stroll around in Shan Yang. She said I came too sudden and did not inform her earlier on. Haih. Sorry! I was too busy that I had scattered my mind. Hehe. I knew what she meant, she wanted to buy local delicacies for our family! Thanks =). When she noticed that I was buying souvenirs for Madeline, my cousin, eventuall she bought her one too! Haha! On behalf of Madeline, I thanked her.
Since she was quite old, we walked and stopped by in front of a shop and sit down. At there, we discussed about the recent happenings. Sigh. We chatted until 8.45 pm when her granddaughter picked her up. And off I waved goodbye to her. As for me, I was wondering "Thank God I got to meet her this time. If not, when else will I meet her again? Who knows, things these days are unpredicitable. But I pray God shall bless everyone with longevity and healthy life. XD."
Joined TY them for some wild shopping. We finish buying souvenirs for friends and family and relatives. Phew. Then, TY and I decided to stay a little longer as our attention were caught by a mega sale for shoes. Guess what, trendy shoes were all off for sale at RM 39 per pair! What the Choc! Insane cheap price which you'll never find in Kuching, even in SOS. XD. Another surprise for you all readers, a pair of slippers, fashionable one, RM 9.90 per pair! Wow! Believe that or not, it's up to you! XD.
Sadly, for me the big foot, the shop owner ran out of stock for size 10. Boohoo! TY was fortunate enough to buy one, not so luck tho, it was RM 70 a pair for one. Hehe. It was only about 9.30 pm when all the shops in Shan Yang started shutting down. OMG! Back here, shops can even closed at 12 midnight, like tHe Spring and Boulevard. Sigh. No choice, it's Sibu, not the modern Kuching. =)
That night, it poured again! argh! it poured all the time when we were in Sibu, when the 7 of us, excluding T.Cheng. Arrived hotel and this time I managed to book the washroom first. XD. Jiunn was beaten by me. After shower, we all dashed up to the 10th floor to watch a movie with the girls. Est bought The Spiderwick Chronicles which we watched via TY's laptop. The 6 of them squeeze themselves in 2 single beds and the outcast were me and Law. We had to sit in front of the bed.
As it was quite late when we started watching the film, so eventually Jiunn and TY's desire to watch the midnight show had turned into a reality. We watched from 11 something when we suddenly realised that Miss Chai was MIA (missing in action.. XD). I phoned her and demanded her to explain why she was late. Aww! Miss Chai was roaming around in Sibu looking for kampua mee for us! So nice for her =)
When she returned sometime in 11pm, we earned our kampua mee. After Miss Chai dressed up, she slept and the eight of us continued with the movie. And until the clock striked 23:59:59, we ended our second day, still watching the film. XD.
Day 3
First thing of the day was continue watching the movie. Haha. Teck Cheng was really a movie-mood tarnisher. He kept on guessing the next event of the film and often he hit the bullseye. Duh. That really killed the excitement of the film lah. Haih. Anyway, it was about 1 am when we finished that 4 out of 5, fantastic science fiction. Haha. If you wanna know more about that film, just dig out for more information in the internet lah. XD.
After complishing our movie, we went back to the 5th floor for a good morning sleep. XD. I woke up at 5.30 and found everyone was still in sleep. And!!! Our group natural alarm - Jiunn was still in bed! Argh! What the heck! XD. Anyway, we waited as our roommates were earlier than us on the 3rd day! What the Choc! Law was the next after me to wake up. He requested me to wake him up when it was his turn to bath.
I quickly managed all personal business in the bathroom, as soon as possible. After bath, I saw Law and Teck Cheng woke up already. Lazy beany TY and Jiunn were still like a gay couple, sleeping together in bed *haha! just kidding guys!*. Law took his bath before TC had his shower. Later, we changed into tidy uniforms and headed back to SMK Sungai Merah Sibu again.
It was the day when we got our result for yesterday's competition. Law's team won number 3 and our team was badly beaten. Why? First reason, 2 of the winning teams performed practical session which was an essential critieria and yet the chief judge back in Kuching told us it wasn't essential! What the choc! And another factor, our team has not natives! Duh! Such lame reasons! And as usual, SMK Bintulu, with their signature gesture, crying emerged as the champion. Sigh. Life is just so unfair. Forget about it. At least KHS team did win a prize. Congratulations~~~
We headed back to hotel after the prize giving ceremony. We were rushed to pack our things and got onto the bus for departure. The bus driver was a reckless one. He drove quite fast and heard Eleen and Law them saying that an accident merely occured. Thank God I was hibernating and did not suffer the shock! Nah! Thank God we were all safe! That's the crucial point. XD
Due to fact that on Day 2 we did not sleep at night, all of us were sleeping soundly on our journey back. XD. And surprise me, I did not visit the washroom, even once throughout the whole journey. Haha. And about 6pm, the singing team was formed. Est, Jiunn, Eleen and I started polishing up our throat. It began with Est and Jiunn and then Eleen and I joined in the crowd. We sang songs, ranging from Chinese to English.
We enjoyed singing 少年 by 光良 and 曹格 the most. It was really a touching one and touched us all! I felt like bawling while singing that song! XD. Then, continue singing a variety of songs when Eleen and I withdrew from the singing group. XD. We rested.
About 7pm, Est and Jiunn slept. TY, Eleen and I discussed about our future, about what should we take or learn after Form 5 and blah blah blah. The sharing session was a true heart-to-heart one. XD. We indeed poured out all our feelings. XD.
Reached the Kuching Bus Terminal about 8pm. My parents were waiting for me already. Loaded my stuff into the car boots and off my parents sped off away from the bus terminal. Aww. How I wish the whole journey would replay or start off again as it was a really FABULOUS experience with all my buddies, TY, Eleen, Est, Law, Karen, Jiunn and Tecky! =) Wonder when will our road cross again? I wonder... Hmm.. Hehe.
Indeed, at the end of the day, nothing in this world could trade with all these memorable moments with my friends that I will cherish forever. Hmm, with here, I shall lift up my virtual pen and put a black dot to this post and close this chapter with a wonderful ending. XD.
